There are several locations to launch your craft. Three locations a couple miles away on the North end of the lake (that has much less boat traffic and is more peaceful). This area is good fishing and has cool "mangrove looking" trees in the water. There are two more locations approx. 10 minutes away that is closer to mid-lake with plenty of parking. These launch points will provide opportunities to paddle to the large island where people camp, meet up and explore the island. Additionally, there are some places here to pick up extra snacks, etc. at the two marinas. One is a state park and gets busy at Noon, so you might want to arrive before that to get the best parking spot. The other is a popular spot for people to pitch a tent and is located in a peaceful cove.

WE WILL HAVE MAPS FOR YOU AND CAN DISCUSS YOUR TRIP BEFORE YOU LEAVE.

We can make arrangements to deliver your water craft to one of two locations.

At the south end of the lake, you will find Rat Branch boat launch and another very popular state park. If you like hustle and bustle, these are the places for you. These are located approx. 15 minutes away from our office These areas are very popular for kayakers and a good opportunity to catch one of the many sail boats and houseboats out for a cruise.

The Lake:
Started in 1942 and finally dammed on the last day of 1948, Watauga Lake is the TVA's highest-elevated reservoir in Tennessee. Surrounded by densely forested mountains in the "high country", Watauga Lake sits 1,959 feet above sea level at "full pool" (full summertime elevation).

Frequently ranked as one of the top 10 cleanest lakes in the USA.
